Abstract

The authors show that the Gordon-Haus jitter experienced in an optical fibre soliton system is reduced by periodic dispersion compensation. Not only is the jitter reduced compared with the uncompensated fibre, but it is lower than that of a system with constant dispersion equal to the path average dispersion of the dispersion managed system
