    Abstract

The paper numerically analyses the properties of an enhanced ADORE designed for 40 Gbit/s operation, using only one electro-absorption modulator (EAM). A 40 Gbit/s asynchronous digital optical regeneration (ADORE) may be implemented using a single EAM, and offers retiming, amplitude and polarisation restoration, making the device suitable for future optical networks.
