Abstract

I thank Dr. Latov and colleagues for their interest in my recent article. I highlighted the question of reduction of intravenous immunoglobulin (IVIg) dose during long-term treatment in chronic inflammatory demyelinating polyradiculoneuropathy (CIDP), as this is a common practical problem. Previous trials showed that close to 50% of patients on steroids or IVIg were able to reduce their IVIg dose by 20% or more without clinical deterioration. Dose reductions unaccompanied by functional deterioration have otherwise been described previously and have been advised for years.
