Abstract
Sleep deprivation is common in modern lifestyles and can result in a variety of serious health problems. Insomnia is the second most common mental disorder which adversely affects the quality of life. Several factors contribute to irregular sleep patterns and disruption of sleep in daily life. In this study, we consider the sleep of individuals with chronic insomnia and their healthy bed partners. The main objective is to examine the variability of sleep activity on weekdays and weekends based on physical movements measured with multi-night actigraphy. Statistical, fractal and sleep parameters were calculated from the actigraphic data. The results show subtle differences in the sleep patterns during weekdays and weekends for individuals with chronic insomnia and their healthy bed partners.
