Abstract

Network slicing has become a major networking paradigm in 5G networks to meet the diverse Quality of Ser- vice (QoS) requirements from different use cases. This paper presents the service-based control plane framework for QoS- aware network slicing in the EU 5G PPP SliceNet project, and emphasises the QoS control mechanism for network slicing in the 5G backhaul network by leveraging software-defined data plane programmability. Both design and prototyping details are described. Experimental results have validated the proposed technical approach and implementation, and demonstrated the QoS performance gains in terms of latency and throughput.
