Slow vector breathers

Abstract

Breathers in mode-locked fiber lasers (MLLs) are related to dynamic dissipative solitons (DSs), e. g. DSs with pulse width and energy oscillations (breathing) and periods ranging from tens to hundreds of roundtrips (RTs) [1-3]. Due to the strong connection with the Fermi-Pasta-Ulam recurrence, the rogue waves emergence, turbulence, and modulation-instability phenomena, breathers are in the focus of research in nonlinear optics during the last two decades [1, 2].
