Abstract
The authors present a detailed spectral characterisation of an optimally designed 60km long DEDFA for soliton transmission. From this. the optimum wavelength for single channel and WDM soliton transmission in such systems and the minimum allowable soliton pulsewidth can both be determined. The results also indicate that the use of in-line soliton guiding filters may not be necessary in single channel systems.
