Abstract
My thesis examines the conceptual nexus between statelessness and genocide which appear to be related but distinct in terms of origins and operation. I select Myanmar as an appropriate site to test a number of hypotheses:
- The interconnection between statelessness and genocide may be reflective of a wider pattern of genocide
- Frameworks relating to genocide prevention do not account for matters of statelessness
- Prevention of statelessness can form a substantive part of genocide prevention
