Abstract

This chapter mainly introduces the development and challenge of vision-based computing with its applications in intelligent humancomputer interaction. Vision based HCI, interactive system, intelligent computing, and their development trend are discussed. To better articulate the issues, virtual reality, augmented reality, mixed reality, user experience are introduced as cases of advanced interactive systems, thus analyzing the correlations between HCI systems and image recognition and processing. Based on the analysis, the challenges that the development is facing are discussed and several typical issues including user experience, knowledge and awareness in the computing, visualization and system management are introduced. The related methodologies as well as the applications are given in the following chapters.
