This project considers the operation and production of sand and gravel pits, and quarries. It shows the relationship between plant capabilities (including designed layout), production factors end the maintenance function. Data for this type of plant, which has been collected, is included and has beer analysed. A simulation programme has been developed, relating the plant production and maintenance functions and their resultant actual productivity to the required demand from the plant. The simulation model allows for a complex, interlinked system and includes inter process stock facilities.
