Abstract

A brief review of African human trypanosomiasis, the disease caused by the protozoa T,b. gambiense and T.b, rhodesiense in man, the classification and the life cycle of these protozoa has been given. The metabolic pathway of glucose, the amino acids threonine, proline, tryptophan, tyrosine and phenylalanine by these two protozoa has been discussed.
