    Biography

Dr Patrick Geoghegan is a Senior Lecturer and Programme Director for Biomedical Engineering  He currently teaches Biofluids and Computational Fluid Dynamics. He is a Chartered Engineer (CEng), Member of the Institution of Mechanical Engineers (MIMEchE) and a  senior fellow of the Higher Education Academy (SFHEA).

Dr Geoghegan did a Masters of Engineering in Aeronautical Engineering at the University of Glasgow. He then completed his PhD in Mechancical Engineering, specialising in Biofluids at the University of Canterbury in New Zealand. Following this he did post-doctoral research at the Institute of Environmental Science and Research (Forensic Service Centre), New Zealand and then at the University of Canterbury.

Dr Geoghegan’s research focus is in two main areas. Firstly, in the field of biofluids, where he uses his expertise in experimental biofluid mechanics to simulate complex medical problems. He complements this with a knowledge of computational fluid dynamics.  His second focus is in forensics. He has expertise in Blood stain pattern analysis and knife crime investigation.
