    Personal profile

    Biography

In June 2016, Zoran joined Aston University as a Lecturer in Chemical Engineering, School of Engineering and Applied Science (EAS).

Before that Zoran was a Research Fellow at Chemical Engineering Department, Instituto Superiror Tecnico, University of Lisbon, Portugal, post-doctoral researcher  and PhD student at Institute for Technology, Chemistry and Biology (ITQB), New University of Lisbon, Portugal and Teaching fellow at Faculty of Technology and Metallurgy, University of Belgrade, Serbia.

Zoran is a co-author of over 50 publications in international peer-review journals, including four chapters in books, with h-factor of 22 (1991 citations, of which 1837 are without self-citations).

So far, Zoran was a referee in over 80 papers in peer-reviewed international journals such as Journal of Chemical Engineering Data, Industrial& Engineering Chemistry Research, The Journal of Chemical Thermodynamics, Journal of Solution Chemistry and Journal of Molecular Liquids.  He received an official recognition of the American Chemical Society for the contribution as a reviewer.

Zoran has received a recognition of the Editor-In-Chief of the Industrial&Engineering Chemistry Research for the excellence in publishing: the article “Liquid-Liquid Equilibrium of Mixtures of Imidazolium-based Ionic Liquids with Propanediols or Glycerol”, published in 2010, was placed among the 50 best cited in the last five years.

From 2009-2014, at University of Lisbon, Portugal, Zoran was a PI for a project "Green Meets Green – Sustainable Hybrid Solvents or Materials Based on Ionic Liquids, Glycerol and Liquid Polymers", funded by  Portuguese Foundation for Science and Technology (£120k).

Liquid-liquid phase behaviour and thermodynamic properties of industrially important liquid mixtures.

    Teaching Activity

At the BEng course of Chemical Engineering I teach:

Heat Transfer within the modules Introduction to Transfer Processes (year 1), Transfer Processes (year 2) and Advanced Transfer Processes (year 3),

Introduction to Chemical Engineering within the module Process and Product Design (year 1).

    Project supervision:

Design projects within the module Advanced Process Design (year 3) and research projects within the master course of Chemical Engineering.

    Responsibilities

I am a Program Director of CEAC, subject (Chemistry) representative for the Teaching Excellence and Student Outcomes Framework (TEF), CEAC representative in the EAS Student Experience Working Group (SEWG) and a member of the CEAC Retention and Engagement Support Team (CREST).

    Administrative Roles

I am a Program Director for CEAC, in charge of the curriculum and program content construction and development, including the joint degree program in Chemical Engineering at Muscat University, Oman.
