Research output: Unpublished contribution to conferencePosterpeer-review

Abstract

Introduction: Product Design students collaborate in CDIO group projects with engineers. Four 12 week long projects. Introduced to logbooks to record development of professional and technical skills, such as records keeping, team working and problem solving.
Objective: Determine if Product Design students implemented project planning skills gained from CDIO learning experiences. Keep a detailed record of their work.
Methods: Survey of 20 Product Design final year students. One questionnaires completed mid first term, other completed end of final year (@end May). Key questions: Keeping logbooks and breadth of data contents, Planning confidence and hours dedicated, Confidence in skills and ability.
Results: Improvement in logbook performance between TP1 and TP2 in 1st year. Decrease in logbook performance between TP1 and TP2 in year 2nd year. Drop in performance was found after the 4 month vacation between year 1 and 2. Average logbook performance in final year showed an improvement over previous years logbooks.
