Description

T625·Special Session: Wheeling Through Treacle?! Evidence-based Practice in Engineering Education – An Interactive Session Exploring the Application of Engineering Education Research to Practice. Panel · Educational Research and Methods Division Session Description: This Special Session will adopt a phenomenographic approach to provide the basis for a critical debate on the value of engineering education research in shaping current and future engineering education practice and policy. Deliberately taking a contentious stance by asking ‘Does engineering education practice actually benefit from engineering education research?’, this session will further develop important work recently undertaken in this area. It also will build upon work conducted by the two facilitators over the past five years whereby a phenomenographic approach has been used to gain a depth of insight into colleagues’ perceptions of evidence-based engineering education. Moderated by Dr. Jane Andrews and Dr. Robin Clark P.E.
