    Dr. Guilhermina Torrao is a Teaching Fellow in Transport at the Department of Engineering Systems and Supply Chain Management at Aston University. She has excellent experience in research and teaching from working in Finland, the UK, Portugal, and the USA.

    Previously, as a Research Scientist of Transport Systems at VTT Technical Research Centre of Finland, Dr. Torrao developed research for two EU H2020 funded projects: L3Pilot Project: Piloting Automated Driving on European Roads (https://www.l3pilot.eu/ ) and SOLUTIONSplus project (http://www.solutionsplus.eu/ ).

    Earlier, Dr. Torrao was a Research Fellow in Human Factors of Vehicle Automation at the Institute of Transport Studies, University of Leeds, UK. She has also been a Lecturer of Transportation Studies at the University of Bradford, UK. Her academic and research positions provided her the opportunity to work with the prestigious British automobile industry: Bentley and Jaguar Land Rover.

    • L3Pilot Project: Piloting Automated Driving on European Roads (https://www.l3pilot.eu/ ), which was the first large-scale piloting of SAE Level 3 automated driving in Europe.
    • SOLUTIONSplus project (http://www.solutionsplus.eu/ ) integrated e-mobility solutions to kick start the transition towards low-carbon urban mobility. 
    • Project ‘SAFENV: Predicting the Trade-offs between Safety and Emissions for Road Traffic’, in a joint partnership between the University of Aveiro, Portugal, and the Institute for Transportation Research & Education, USA.
