Abstract

The nutritional requirements of Klebsiella aerogenes DL1i were quantitatively defined using a chemically defined medium (CDM). Antibiotic sensitivity patterns were determined using nutrient-depleted cultures. Iron-depleted (CDM-Fe) K. aerogenes DL1 was more sensitive to polymyxin than magnesium-depleted or log phase DL1. Loss by mutation of the K and O antigens failed to increase the sensitivity of K. aerogenes to a range of hydrophilic and hydrophobic antibiotics...
