    Personal profile

    Biography

I received his MSc and PhD degrees in optics and laser physics (topic: polarisation spectroscopy and polarisation laser dynamics) from Belarusian State University (BSU), Minsk, in 1985 and 1991, respectively. From 1988 to 1999, I worked at the Department of Physics, BSU in a range of different positions, from Research Assistant to Senior Researcher/Team Leader. As a team leader, I was the PI of projects related to polarisation laser dynamics. From 1999 to 2005, I moved to Sweden and acquired industrial and academic experience by working on erbium-doped fibre amplifies’ design and characterisation at Ericsson AB, Acreo AB, and Royal Institute of Technology. From 2005 to 2010, I worked at the Optics Research Group (ORG), Waterford Institute of Technology (WIT), Ireland as a Senior Researcher/Project Manager on the projects related to erbium-doped fibre amplifiers and polarisation phenomena in fibre Raman amplifiers and lasers. In 2010, I was awarded a prestigious and very competitive Marie Curie Fellowship as a Senior Researcher (topic: polarisation phenomena in fibre Raman amplifiers) and joined AIPT, Aston University. I since continued employment at AIPT, initially as a Senior Research Fellow (2012-15), AIPT Senior Research Fellow (Grade 10) (2015-18), and Associate Research Professorial Fellow (since 2018).
