    Accepting PhD Students

    PhD projects

I am interested in supervising PhD student projects on "Development of computational tools and forecasting models to analyse the relationships between traffic congestion, charges and greenhouse gas emissions in cities and urban areas. "

This project will develop computational tools and forecasting models to analyse the relationships between traffic congestion, charges and greenhouse gas emissions in cities and urban areas. The successful applicant will work towards developing workable interventions to effectively relieve traffic congestion, reduce GHG emissions in the city and improve the environment.

    Biography

I joined Aston University in February 2019 to work as a lecturer in the School of Engineering and Applied Science. The previous nine and a half years I have been employed by Newcastle University as a (senior) research associate. I have worked within the Newrail’s research centre, developing innovative concepts for rail freight and logistics orienated services. I have also been responsible the NewRail’s teaching and learning portfolio, including a PhD opportunity scheme in Organisation, Management and Economics of Train Movement and Rail systems design.

My educational background includes Technology, Organisation and Management of Train Movement. My Ph.D thesis was on Analysis and Evaluation of Formation Yard Performances.

Prior to my engagements at Newcastle University, I have worked as a teaching assistant and researcher in the Transportation Systems branch of the MIT/Portugal programme, where he lectured on Transportation Planning and Performance Assessment, Freight Transport and Logistics Processes as well as Railway Engineering.
