Research Interests

Vanessa's research interests are in learning and development with a special interest in coaching.

Vanessa is currently writing her thesis for her Professional Doctorate in Education (EdD) at BCU. Vanessa's doctoral candidacy and research experience has been significantly reshaped through the discovery of her own learning differences via a recent diagnosis of ADHD and her work explores the implications for learning and supervision support of adulthood diagnosis for the candidate, the course and the university. Vanessa's EdD thesis is an autoethographic study of the lived experience of professional doctoral candidacy of a female mid-career academic with late-diagnosis ADHD.

Vanessa is an advocate for neurodivergent students, scholars and academics, and both her teaching and research harness her extensive experience and long-held passion for coaching to support those with learning differences to flourish in creative and compassionate ways.
