Abstract

The purpose of the study is to analyze the resource potential of the banking system and the problems of the deposit guarantee system during 2014-2016. Information on the amount of deposits of individuals in banks participating in the Deposit Guarantee Fund of individuals was analyzed. The impact of the decrease in the deposit base of banks on the economy of Ukraine and the negative trend in savings was noted. The ratio of savings to GDP in some countries of the world, including Ukraine, is analyzed. Attention is focused on the importance of remittances from abroad. The level of dollarization of deposits and the structure of deposits in banks are analyzed. Attention is drawn to the correlation between foreign currency fluctuations and deposits. The dynamics and structure of liabilities in banks participating in the Individual Deposit Guarantee Fund were analyzed. A conclusion was made regarding the reduction of the share of deposits of individuals. The dynamics of lending and the share of overdue debt are presented. The dynamics of the volume of loans granted by the NBU to banks of Ukraine were analyzed. Based on the results of our research, recommendations were made to improve the state of formation and use of funds, and further improvement of the banking system and deposit guarantee system was noted, which is a priority measure in difficult modern conditions.
