30 dB long-period fibre grating inscription by high-intensity femtosecond 352 nm laser pulses

Abstract

We describe long-period grating inscription in hydrogenated telecom fibres using high-intensity 352 nm laser pulses and show that this technique allows us to fabricate very strong (30 dB) high-quality fibre gratings via three-photon absorption.
