Abstract

All-optical clock recovery at bit rates up to 40 Gbit/s using a modelocked fibre ring laser is demonstrated. The configuration simultaneously performs timing extraction and pulse reshaping to give a continuous stream of closely transform limited picosecond duration pulses.
