Abstract

This chapter provides an up-to-date insight into the economic relations of the European Union (EU) and India. It unravels the economic aspects of the 2018 EU strategy on India by discussing the driving forces of the relationship. It further explores the reasons as to why it has not been possible for the EU and India to exploit the economic partnership to its full potential, commenting on whether this might provide an opportunity for both sides to exploit the partnership as an economic milestone for each partner respectively. It concludes that both the EU and India must firmly commit to re-engage with each other in order to build and consolidate the strategic partnership for mutual gain at a time when the world is increasingly multipolar and global growth is slowing.
