Biography
Dr Anis Zras is a member of the Accounting Group in Aston Business School (ABS). He joined the Accounting Department in August 2020. Anis worked at Southampton Business School (SBS) as a Teaching Fellow in Accounting during (2016 - 2020). Prior to joining the SBS, he began his academic career at Portsmouth University as an Associate Lecturer (2013 - 2016). He also worked as an auditor in accounting firms in Libya during (2004 – 2006) after the completion of his first degree.
Anis received his PhD in Accounting and Financial Management from the University of Portsmouth (2015) and a Masters’ degree in Accounting (MSc) from the University of Essex (2009). He has a postgraduate certificate in academic practice and has acquired a recognition by the UK Higher Education Academy (HEA) and became a fellow of the HEA. Anis is a member of the Libyan Association of Auditors and Accountants (LAAA).
He has extensive experience in teaching accounting in higher education institutions in the UK throughout his teaching career Anis has been heavily involved in the design and delivery of distance and online programmes. His teaching interest cuts across Accounting and Finance, having taught modules such as Financial Accounting, Advanced Financial Reporting, Management Accounting, and Financial Management to both undergraduate and postgraduate students. At the University of Southampton, Anis served as the Programme Leader (Director) for the MSc in Accounting and Finance when the programme was undergoing re-validation. He welcomes the opportunity to assist membership organisations, charities and other civil society organisations in his role and via his research interests and expertise.
