Derrick joined Aston Business School as a Lecturer in Strategic Management. His research interest lies in the broader areas of Strategy, Innovation and Organisation Theory. He is keen on unpacking adaptive responses of contemporary firms to the dynamics of regulatory landscapes as a form of non-market strategy, and how socio-material and cognitive frames ensure patterned consistency of actions necessary for creating and capturing sustainable value. His theoretical persuasions include routine dynamics, practice theory, temporal/collective myopia in organizing and technology speciation. His recent publications have appeared in Journals such as Information Technology and People, Technovation, Technological Forecasting and Social Change, and European Management Review.
