Research Interests
My research investigates youth mental health, and in particular, resilience processes and protective factors. To do this, I utilise neurological and neuropsychological measures, as well as clinical and social indices. Understanding how emerging mental disorders can inform our knowledge of risk and resilience processes, and the development of interventions to promote mental health in young people, are central aims of my work.
Biography
I graduated with a degree in Psychology and Philosophy (joint hons) from The University of Leeds in 2007, after which I spent time working as an Applied Behavioural Analysis tutor and Mental Health Support Worker. I completed a Masters at the University of Leeds in 2009 and worked as an honorary Research Assistant alongside my studies. I completed my PhD at the University of Birmingham in 2014. Between 2013-2019 I worked first with the Adolescent Brain Development and Mental Health research Lab, and then the PROSPER Research lab at the University of Birmingham, investigating youth mental health, particularly in regards to psychosis and early schizophrenia. I am currently a Lecturer in Psychology at Aston University and an Honorary Research Fellow at University of Birmingham.
