Abstract

Novel electrode materials capable of providing higher specific capacities in next-generation ion accumulators have been garnering immense recognition. In this article, we have discussed the significant insights into electrochemical characteristics of MOF based materials (increased electrical conductance, enhanced thermal resistance, amplified structural durability, regulated porosity, and well defined crystallographic features). In particular the function of MOF as an electrode, electrolyte and a separator in Metal-Ion Batteries, Metal-Air Batteries, Metal-Sulfur/Selenium Batteries is described thoroughly. Additionally, the existing challenges in upgrading the single MOF component have been addressed for further advancements.
