Abstract

A novel recirculating fiber-optic notch filter is demonstrated by using two fiber gratings. The notch depth of the filter is maximized by employing a chirped grating with a triangular reflection spectrum. The free-spectral range (FSR) of the filter is changed by changing the spacing between the two used gratings. Overall, the filter offers an effective, precise and flexibly tuned real-time device for the signal processing of fiber radio-frequency systems.
